The award nomination is for our ‘Home Office – space above the garage’

Since the onset of COVID-19, working from home has become increasingly popular, transforming daily routines. As a responsible house-builder, we recognised this shift and responded by creating a bespoke design that would appeal to our buyers, featuring a generously sized and unique Home Office in the space above the garage.

Dave Coppack, our Senior Project Coordinator, commented, “Flexibility was fundamental in providing a first-floor habitable space for multiple uses, such as an independent home office, a games or cinema room, or a self-contained living space. The design optimises the previously redundant roof area above a detached double garage, creating 455 sq. ft. of versatile additional floor space.”

The design showcases exceptional material consideration and effective use of design elements, enhancing both functionality and customer appeal. The roof and floor structure utilise an attic truss specification, ensuring the structure can support heavier items like pool tables or gym equipment.

Stonebridge carefully considered every aspect to maximise potential. The internal staircase is strategically located in a corner, reducing the impact on the ground floor garage and optimising the first-floor area. The vaulted ceiling includes roof light windows for natural daylight and privacy, with the main aspect window preventing overlooking from neighbouring plots.

The structure exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and environmental efficiency, with features like wastewater heat recovery, flue gas heat recovery systems, and solar panels to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

This innovative structure is available across our latest developments and is extremely popular. Customers can further personalise the space with options like a kitchenette and en-suite shower room. This bespoke design sets us apart in the market.
